Research

 

Dr Gavin Walker (FIChemE) is a Reader in Chemical Engineering and is Head of Chemical Engineering (Teaching).

Dr Walker is a member of the Innovative Molecular Materials (IMM) research cluster. The IMM research cluster comprises of academics with chemistry and chemical engineering backgrounds who work in an interdisciplinary team investigating the fundamental molecular structure and engineering applications of novel materials.

Dr Walker's personal group includes 14 research students and 2 PDRA's. He has published >100 international journal papers in areas of pharmaceutical, environmental and tissue engineering.

Dr Walker has recently been appointed as The Royal Academy of Engineering/Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellow.

Dr Walker's research is concerned with developing a fundamental understanding of chemical; and physical processes of industrial importance, including areas of:

  • Pharmaceutical Engineering and Particle Technology;
  • Tissue Engineering and Medical Polymers;
  • Environmental Technology and Adsorption Modeling.

 

Dr Walker is a Royal Academy of Engineering ExxonMobil Teaching Fellow and is Associate-Editor of the “Chemical Engineering Journal”.
