Our main goals are in development of clever routes to structurally complex molecules with interesting biological properties and exploration of new organic reactions as key points of the proposed strategies. We are also interested in elucidation of biogenetic pathways of natural product synthesis and applications of various biomimetic principles in synthesis.
Natural product targets. Our initial target molecules are Aspergilin PZ 1 and Rubrolone Aglycone 2.

Our interest in development of a biomimetic synthesis of 1 led us to identify structurally related alkaloids 3 & 4, which will be synthesised alongside with Aspergillin PZ.

New synthetic methodology. We are interested in exploring new transition metal catalysed reactions of terminal alkynes like in the proposed synthesis of pyrrolizine and indolizine alkaloids.

We are also interested in development of asymmetric versions of the powerful 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of pyrilium ylides and its further applications in total synthesis.
