Research

Centre for the Theory and Application of Catalysis (CenTACat)
CenTACat undertakes multidisciplinary research involving chemists, physicists and engineers with a common interest in understanding the fundamental principles that underpin clean energy production, clean organic chemistry, and environmental protection.

Innovative Molecular Materials (IMM) Group
Research in the IMM group is centred on understanding, characterizing and controlling the properties of molecular materials, many of which have mesoscale (nm- mm) structure.

Synthetic and Bioorganic Chemistry (SynBIOC)
SYNBIOC provides a unique environment for innovative training of synthetic chemists in order to facilitate their integration into the ever-evolving world of interdisciplinary research at the Physical and Life Science interface. To achieve excellence in interdisciplinary research of this type, the hands-on and taught training activities maximise acquisition of expertise in the fields of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, spectroscopy, enzymology, biology and biotechnology.

QUESTOR
The Queen's University Environmental Science and Technology (QUESTOR) Research Centre provides application focussed environmental research to generate knowledge and technologies for the future needs of industry. The QUESTOR Centre serves a select membership made up of environmental regulators and environmentally responsible companies, ranging in size from large multi-national corporations through to forward looking SMEs.

QUILL
The Queen's University Ionic Liquid Laboratories (QUILL) Research Centre was founded as an academic-industrial consortium, with member companies from all sectors of the chemical industry. This prize winning centre develops fundamental and applied knowledge of ionic liquids for generic and specific applications for industry and society.
