BEng. Chemical Engineering

Entry requirements Course code
A-Level BBB including Mathematics and a Science Subject H800

Each year of our degree programmes is comprised of six modules.

In Year 1, a thorough understanding of chemical principles is achieved by taking chemistry and chemical engineering modules that embrace the subject areas of design, mass transfer, heat transfer; computer applications and economics. There is potentially a large degree of choice in the remaining two modules, though this is usually determined by the A-levels that you offer.

In Year 2 two modules are design and laboratory based. In other modules students are introduced to new concepts in areas of: Process Heat Transfer; Thermodynamics; Fluid & Particle Mechanics; Mathematics; Safety & Design; Process Control; Mass Transfer. Computer Aided Design & Simulation.

In Year 3 there are two design modules which ensure that students study aspects of process design; process economics; environmental management; process safety & control; critical path analysis; site selction & plant layout. Other modules on offer include: Chemical Reaction Engineering; Management & Administration; Transport Phenomena; Heat and Mass Transfer; Loss Prevention. Modules in Biochemical Engineering and Professional Studies are also offered.
